01The horses have left; the casino has not
Live thoroughbred racing at Hastings was discontinued effective immediately on December 5, 2025, after more than 130 years. There is no live racing in 2026. The casino and the simulcast racebook continue as before.
The long-time name is Hastings Racecourse & Casino. Great Canadian's own site now calls it Hastings Casino. On December 11, 2025, the City of Vancouver gave provisional approval for a new Whitecaps FC soccer stadium on the former racecourse site.

Great Canadian Entertainment operates the casino on city-owned land. On November 7, 2025, Tsleil-Waututh Nation signed a final agreement to buy the casino business. Closing needed approval from regulators and the City of Vancouver. As of October 2026, this guide could not confirm that the sale has closed, so who operates the casino today is best checked with the venue.
03Hours
The casino does not publish its hours on Great Canadian's page as far as this guide could find, and the other listings disagree with each other. Rather than pick one, the honest advice is to check the official page or call 604-254-1631 before setting out, particularly on holidays. Hours for the lounge and café are not published either.
04On the floor
Hastings is a slots house. BCLC's casinosbc.com listing names slots under games offered and lists no table games. Published slot counts range widely, so this guide gives none; it is a sizeable floor.
There is no poker room. The simulcast racebook remains, and Great Canadian posts a monthly simulcast schedule on its Hastings page. There is also a GameSense Info Centre on site.
05Eclipse Lounge and food
Eclipse Lounge sits next to the gaming floor, with a full bar, food, TVs and a performance stage for musicians and entertainers. Upcoming events are posted on Great Canadian's Hastings page.
Furlong's Eatery is listed for quick eats; its current hours are not confirmed. One outlet on the official page is marked as open during live horse racing only, which, given the circumstances, probably means not open.
06Encore Rewards
Encore Rewards is BCLC's loyalty program and works at all BC casinos. Hastings' own page has a rewards section without naming the program. Under the general program rules, joining is free at Guest Services with acceptable photo ID, for those 19 and over. Members earn points on play and get access to contests, events and discounts. The exact desk location at Hastings is not confirmed.
07Getting there by bus
Buses 14, 16 and the R5 RapidBus stop near Hastings Park; the nearest stop is on E Hastings St at Renfrew St. Renfrew Station on the Millennium Line is the nearest SkyTrain stop, a short walk away. The stop is close enough that an umbrella is optional, which in Vancouver it rarely is.
After the regular buses stop, the N35 NightBus (Downtown/SFU) runs along Hastings St. Check times on TransLink's NightBus page; this guide has not confirmed them from TransLink. More on routes at By SkyTrain and bus and Late night.
BCLC's listing says parking is free. No rates are published for days when Hastings Park or the PNE has events on.
08At the door
Entry is 19+. Since June 26, 2023, every visitor to a BC casino must show original government-issued photo ID, which security scans at the door. Photos and copies are not accepted. The casino has not published a dress code.
